To what I’m sure is absolutely no one’s surprise, I am running late on Inferno. I kept thinking that I could make the 15th until today, but I am realistically 3-4 days away right now, as I type this, and that isn’t counting formatting. I’m also tired, because several chapters have been a bitch for no apparent reason. So make that more like a week away, but you know what? I’m gonna say two, because I am tired of this. I am terrible at estimates, so from now on, I am doubling all of them. Maybe then I can keep a damned deadline. However, there is a decent chance that the book will be out before then, and if so, I will make an announcement. But if not, I will see you on Halloween.
Oh, and I’m sorry that I suck. But the book doesn’t, if that’s any consolation.
You don’t suck! And thank you for the update. It keeps me from stalking Amazon. You got this!
You don’t suck AT ALL. You don’t give yourself enough credit with everything you’ve been doing on your own and all the weight of so much responsibility you’ve been shouldering since you decided to keep going/writing. I can’t emphasize enough how much, as a simple fan, I appreciate how much you are busting your ass for us, yourself, and your craft. Don’t ever feel guilty for how much time it may take to put your books out there properly. I’m patient as hell and no one wants you to burn yourself out. You just do you. YOU GOT THIS!
Thank you for the update! I haven’t had much time to read lately, but I will be sure to order it as soon as it comes out. I love your work.
Thank you so much for your hard work!!! I love this series and am happy to wait as long as it takes to update.
Have a good week and take care of yourself.
I too have been stalking Amazon lol. You do not suck life happens ppl get tired rest when you need too. Most of all take care of you and thank you for your creative worlds! 💞
You don’t suck. You’re continuing to give us your very best which I really appreciate. I rather you take all the time you need to write your books instead of rushing through them and risk the possibility of them not being good. Thank you for everything you do. You’re the best!
Somebody once gave me a rule for estimating how much time a task might need: take the time you think you need, multiply it by two and go one order higher. For example if I think I’ll need 3 hours, it’ll actually take 6 days – this has worked surprisingly well for me so far XD
Just do your best! Thank you for keeping us up to date. :) I look forward to a November read with a proper cup of tea.
Thank you for the update. I appreciate all the soul you put into this world & am excited to keep reading.
This works much better for my schedule, I have an out of town guest and now I don’t have to feel guilty about binge reading while they’re visiting!
💕💕
As has already been said: You absolutely do not suck Karen. Your books are ready when they are ready and that is absolutely fine with me and I suspect many others because we LOVE them. As I’ve mentioned before on these comments pages – you’re a singularly gifted author with a standard of world creation and writing that is second to NONE. The time you need to provide us with another wonderful book is the time you need, however long that maybe and anyone who gives you grief over that is simply not worth responding to or giving a second thought.
If I may make a suggestion; as you’re an independent author – simply don’t bother with deadlines or announce any. That may not be popular I don’t know, and I can’t speak for anyone else, but I for one would instead love to hear how you’re doing, the progress you’re making, how many chapters you’ve written, when you’ve hit a bump (without any plot details or spoilers naturally), when you’re taking a well deserved break. (I might be alone in this but I’d be fascinated in hearing about the literary process and how you go about approaching these amazing books you produce!). Now I fully appreciate that may take a bit more time than providing a deadline and may not even be possible given your busy schedule, but just an idea.
But if nothing else – please do take one thing from this message – 1 million % behind you, take however long you need, don’t push or force your artistic and literary skills – its constant high levels of both that result in the masterworks you keep producing! And remember – there are more of us behind you and supporting you than there ever will be against you!
I agree with this idea it would be alot less fustrating to hear where you are at then getting excited to read your book and it not being there. But that’s just my opinion.
That’s very kind. I will try to do that in future, because absolute deadlines don’t seem to work for me, no matter how hard I try. Perhaps this method would be better.
I second what James says. Drop the deadlines. Tell us about your process/progress, or other interesting things about getting the books out. I think that would actually be much more satisfying than a (missed) deadline for everyone (including you, perhaps). Either way, when you get the books out is much less important than *whether* you get them out! Life is short. Be well.
Thank you for the update, your books are definitely worth the wait. I love your Cassandra series. But Dorina Basarab is definitely my favourite, I love her fiery character, I am looking forward to your next book in the series.
I was wondering if thier was any update on fortune blade the dorina basarab series?
Probably late spring, if I’m lucky. Inferno is done and will be out Mid-January; Junk Magic is halfway done, and it’s not a monster sized book, so I’m thinking I need about six weeks for that. Then I can work on Dory.
I have stretched out Incendiary as long as I can, and I don’t care how long it takes you to finish I am very excited for Inferno. I love what you have done with this series and the evolution of the story and the complexity of the characters. Between Cassie and Dory you have crafted a brilliant world. Thank you.
I completely agree with James’s comments, it’s here when it’s here.
I totally agree with James’s remarks, it’s out when it’s out.
Take all the time you need to put out the story that to tell and we want to read. That not with standing when does Inferno come out. I can’t even find it on Amazon.
Stalking this site daily for news lol but am happily waiting on the next book/books whenever they may come and ❤ always!
Still the book is not released.I am very excited for book.I really want to read it please release it as fast as you can
I’m still stalking amazon. I can’t help it. I WANT that book!
I suggest you make news drops like “Book is in editing!” “Still working on edits” and “Book is on most platforms!” And then you don’t have to reach any deadlines because we don’t know what they are :) I’m going to wait and I’m going to keep checking back because I love the books. I’m okay being patient. :) I always read the books in like three hours and then reread them over a week to see if I missed anything in my crazy binge read. And then start the whole series over. And then read all of the Dory series. Seriously, it’s a good thing I don’t have to pay every time I read these or I’d be so broke :) Keep doing what you do! Love all the books and I try to get my friends hooked, too.
Still stalking this site daily for news lol!!! Much love 🧡 and happily excited waiting for the next one.
Wow. I love your books and I love your messages. Don’t stress. I waited over a decade for the next book in the Enders Game series, so this is nothing. Take all the time you need.
Lol, a decade of this and I would literally put a knife in my eye! No, it will be out mid-January.
It’s November 21 in Australia. Desperate for Inferno! Any updates.
Yes, Mid-January. I know; I suck. But this book kicked my ass. I am happy that it is finally done, and hope you will be, too.
I love your work so it is worth the wait but hopefully that wait is almost over? Any updates now that we are into Dec? Just super excited!!!
As complicated as your books are and the sheer madness of the Holiday season (I count Halloween as the start, thru New Year), I completely understand missing a deadline or 3. Any chance you can toss us a glimmer of hope for Christmas?
No, but how is mid-January?
Just curious any news yet? I check each day for an update on how things are going with inferno. Hoping it comes out soon. Very excited to read the next book.
Any idea on when the audiobook for incendiary will be up?
And how is inferno coming along?
are you putting any more updates and happy holidays
Just wondering how the second part of Inferno is coming along?
Finally done. It will be out on the 15th of this month. I hope you’ll enjoy, and I apologize that you’ve had to wait so long.
Any updates on the audiobook? Love your stuff and dying for more!!!
Not writing to rush you about the next book (i understand it’s being a bear, and creativity happens on it’s own schedule), just wanted to send you an early Merry Christmas! Hope you are taking some time off to enjoy the holidays, and that you know you are not disappointing anyone or letting us down for the time delay – and i really hope no one is being enough of an a$$ to make you feel like that.
Also wanted to thank you for your dedication to continue the wonderful Cassie/Dory stories, despite the setbacks you’ve unfortunately faced. I’ve grown up with your books, and to know that you will see these stories through to the end means a great deal to me (and no doubt many people).
Thank you so much! Yeah, this one was a bear, but I think it came out well (finally). I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Waiting with bated breath…
Happy New year 💗🎉 hope everyone is doing great 😊
