“The urban fantasy equivalent of a summer blockbuster.”

From the book jacket:

Cassandra Palmer may be the all-powerful Pythia now, but that doesn’t mean people have stopped trying to kill her. Most of the supernatural power players don’t want the independent minded Cassie as chief clairvoyant—and they’ll stop at nothing to see her six feet under.

The Vampire Senate does support Cassie in her position, but their protection comes with a price: an alliance with the sexy master vampire Mircea, who has claimed Cassie as his own.

But even the vampires will have trouble keeping Cassie alive now that the self-styled god Apollo, the source of the Pythia’s power, has it in for her in a big way. To save her life—and the world—Cassie’s going to have to face down her creator once and for all.

Reviews for Curse the Dawn

Chance is outstanding in her punchy delivery of yet another action-packed adventure with Miss Palmer. Swift action sequences, tight plotline, a memorable cast, some rather steamy and heart-thumping scenes, not to mention the occasional sweetness of dry humour amidst a lot of killing and death, are all reasons to love this book and indeed this series. Whilst one cannot feel anything but jealousy for Miss Palmer (the stunning specimens of manhood in her life is just unfair), there is a sense of joy that this sassy, interminable female character with her big mouth and conflicted emotions is the heroine of the piece. It’s also good to know that our Cassie can kick a god’s butt when necessary – the world just seems safer somehow with her in it.–The Truth About Books

Readers are in for a truly riotous ride in the latest Cassie Palmer novel. Chance adds plenty of twists and obstacles to her first-person series that blends time travel, magic, vampires and more. The pace is rapid, and the exploits are wild. Chance aces another one! 4 1/2 stars!–Romantic Times.
I love the Cassie Palmer series and Curse the Dawn, the first installment in a second “trilogy” ups the ante from preceding books. We have more danger, more adventure, more creatures, and still more enemies and friends. Curse the Dawn is a fast paced adventure ride (quite literally a ride as you’ll find out) that leaves you absolutely breathless. I’m always exhausted after reading Cassie’s adventures, and I wonder how in the world any single person can survive the adrenaline rush where Cassie always seems to be stuck in the middle. Make sure you have plenty of time before beginning this book. Trust me, you will not want to put it down until the final page is turned.–Kelley Harstell, ck2skwipsandkritiques.com.
A dark theme tempered with humor, action, and romance comes alive in CURSE THE DAWN, one of the best of the Cassandra Palmer series IMHO. –Kathy Samuels, Romance Reviews Today.
CURSE THE DAWN is Outstanding. The characters pull you into their world and won’t let you go. Karen Chance creates the unique world of Pythia, master vampires, ghosts, and mages. The dialog is funny, the story is fast paced, full of intrigue with really hot sex scenes. This is my first Cassandra Palmer book but it won’t be my last.–The Romance Reader’s Connection.
This is the fourth book in the Cassandra Palmer series, and follows Cassie through her latest hair-raising adventure.  Ms. Chance shares a great bit of humor at her heroine’s expense, and strengthens the character as she works to gain control of her gifts.  Curse the Dawn unfolds at a quick and steady pace, with strong characters, a creative storyline and the seductive lure of power.  This is a must read for fans!–Darque Reviews
I like this series for several reasons.  One of those is the hint of the ridiculous that pokes fun at the genre and life in general that cannot help but make you smile.  Also, while Cassie Palmer is young, full of herself and a bit of snark, she is not your typical kick butt heroine.  She is petite, untrained, unknowledgeable and pretty much ends up doing all right anyway.  In this she is like a smarter Inspector Clouseau – while her eyes are wide open she does seem to end up in some crazy situations.  Plus, you get all that with lots of magic, vampires, succubi, demons and wizards.  What’s not to love?–Bookspotcentral.com
