Recently named the world’s chief
clairvoyant, Cassandra
Palmer still has a thorn in her side. As long as Cassie and a certain
master
vampire—the sizzling-hot Mircea—are magically bound to each other, her
life
will never be her own …
The spell that binds them can only be
broken with an
incantation found in the Codex Merlini, an ancient grimoire. The
Codex’s
location has been lost in the present day, so Cassie will have to seek
it out
in the only place it can still be found—the past.
But Cassie soon realizes the Codex has
been lost for a
reason. The book is rumored to contain some seriously dangerous spells,
and
retrieving it may help Cassie to deal with Mircea, but it could also
endanger
the world…

What
makes Cassandra (Cassie) Palmer such a wonderful character is her
groundedness. Cassie is a loyal friend. She listens to her heart and
she doesn't wait for someone else to come along and rescue her or tell
her what to do. She's never convinced she's doing the right
thing but she's always doing the best she can with what she knows at
the moment. The mix of vulnerability and steely resolve make for some
interesting twists in the plotline.--SFRevu
Cassie is a great character.
Her ability
to laugh at and chastise herself provides a surprising amount of comic
relief in a lot of situations that shouldn't be funny. The secondary
and even tertiary characters are fabulous as well. Each character is
very much his or her own person, with very different quirks and senses
of humor. As far as supernatural and paranormal series go, this is one
of the best.--The Romance

Cassie--in her struggles
between her passionate need for independence, her burgeoning feelings
for Mircea and her conflicts with her new role as Pythia--is a
well-rounded character, and the intensity and complexity of the plot
puts her through her paces physically, emotionally and psychically. --Publishers Weekly
Sprinkled with some
scintillating encounters with Mircea, Cassie begins to grow into her
new title as she discovers it’s not simply the geis that draws them together. Quick
pacing and imaginative use of some old mythologies blend into a
captivating read that will leave readers clamoring for more. --MonstersandCritics.com
Ms. Chance continues to expand
her well-built world with time-travel, fantastical beings, steamy
romance and the non-stop action her wonderful series provides. This is
a fast-moving read that’s hard to set down, and it will no doubt leave
readers eager for future installments in the Cassandra Palmer series.--Kimberly Swan, Darque Reviews
This novel is a wonderfully
refreshing step away from the cookie cutter regime of the usual vampire
novels. With pixies, mages, vampires, the mob and Cassie's clairvoyant
powers, this novel has it all. Believable characters, descriptive
settings and thrills and chills kept this reader on the edge
of her seat anxious to discover the outcome of Cassie’s adventure.--Round Table Reviews
The complex, detailed back story
gives Cassandra's life a depth and breadth that make it stand apart
from the many other vampire and supernatural fantasy series. The
characters are complicated and well rounded, never stereotypical, and
their interactions are believable, often humorous, with dialog that
brings everything vividly to life.--Books

Wow! EMBRACE THE NIGHT is
another edge-of-your-seat ride with Cassie Palmer. Karen Chance does a
fantastic job of keeping to the high standards for plot, humor,
romance, and action that she set in the first book, TOUCH THE DARK.--Romance Reviews Today
Embrace the Night, Karen
Chance’s third volume in the Cassandra Palmer series is a fitting
sequel to the first two. Fast paced and filled with faeries, kids,
vampires, mages, ghosts, incubi, gargoyles, magic spells, evil plots,
backstabbing and surprises – this one follows the lead of the first two
and adds in a bit more of each to ‘kick it up a notch’ so to speak.--fantasybookspot.com
