Q&A #1:
1) Any news on the Mircea short?
Yes, I have it plotted out, although not written at this point. The Pritkin ones are almost ready to go, so I am concentrating on them at the moment. But I haven’t forgotten about Mircea (as if anyone could!)
2) Will there be more Dory books?
Absolutely. I am working hard on number three at the moment.
3) I’d like to know if Dory and Cassandra are going to meet.
I usually try to avoid spoilers, but I’ll make an exception here because I’ve already hinted broadly about it in several interviews (and because it’s pretty much a given anyway). Cassie is dating Dory’s father. Sooner or later, they’re bound to meet up.
4) Can Louis turn invisible?
Ha! No spoilers, sorry.
5) In what year does the story take place? (Because in the first two books one has the impression that the main story evolves around 1997. But in the second book toward the end, Cassie tells Mircea “You won’t believe how that place looks in 200 years”, while earlier on she says they are in Paris, 1797. Whereas in the last two books Cassie complains that there is a bounty of 500,000 euros for her and Pritkin. Well the euro became an official currency in 2002).
First off, Cassie was rounding. When you’re talking in terms of hundreds of years, a few here or there don’t matter much. And secondly, this is an alternative universe, so an exact date wouldn’t help you. I think of the books simply as “present day” myself.
6) How exactly are vampires made? Cassie says that three successive bites will suffice. Dory on the other hand said that she asked a vampire to drain her of her blood in order to become one.
Dory didn’t ask to be drained, just to be turned. The vamp in question got a little too enthusiastic, leaving her lightheaded the next day. And Cassie’s comment was about a human. Neither she nor Dory exactly fits that model.
7) Does the oath Pritkin pledges Cassie at the end of the first book play an important part to the overall plot?
I don’t do spoilers, but let’s say that Pritkin takes his word very seriously.
