The Gauntlet
Set in the England of Elizabeth I, “The Gauntlet” features Kit Marlowe as a newly created vampire and Gillian Urswick as a witch with a penchant for highway robbery. That hobby had landed her in trouble with the Silver Circle, the self-appointed guardians of the magical community. They didn’t like thieves, particularly not when they were also members of the Druid covens that had been nothing but thorns in the Circle’s side. That resulted in Gillian having a date with a noose and only Marlowe having a chance of breaking her out of the Circle’s high security prison in time.
